FLINT, MI — Love and Hip Hop reality show star, Stevie J and local promoters distributed water to Flint residents over the weekend to show support after state officials announced water distribution sites would close in Flint.
“They stopped giving away water. We came up here and we bought 20 pallets of water and we’re going to past it out everywhere,” said Chris Bell of C. Bell Presidential Entertainment of their water distribution efforts on April 8, 2018. “Whoever needs water we are going to stop and just give it away.”
Gov. Rick Snyder announced on April 6, 2018, that the state-run water distribution sites would close this month. According to workers they were given notice that their last day of work would be April 13, 2018.
Stevie J along with a Flint nonprofit Shooting for the Stars and C. Bell Presidential Entertainment purchased 20 pallets of water from Walmart in Flint Township on Sunday to distribute to Flint residents.
The reality star’s visit to the store on Corunna Road was a surprise to area residents who lined up to take pictures with the reality TV personality.
“I didn’t do this for the press,” said Stevie J to Flint Beat. “I did this for the community you know.”
Stevie J, whose name is Steven Aaron Jordan, is a musician, record producer songwriter and television personality on the popular reality show Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. The show airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on VH1.
