David R. McGhee appointed executive VP at Community Foundation of Greater Flint
FLINT, MI – David R. McGhee is set to start as the Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective November 1, 2024.
McGhee, a Flint native, will report directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, providing leadership in operational, financial, and strategic activities that support the Foundation’s mission of connecting generosity to the community’s most pressing needs.
“David’s leadership experience and commitment to community-centered philanthropy align perfectly with our vision for Genesee County,” said Mark L. Miller, Interim President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. “His expertise in organizational development and strategic planning will be invaluable as we continue advancing positive change in Flint and beyond.”
In his new role, McGhee will oversee key functions at the Community Foundation, including financial oversight, human resources, and strategic initiatives. His leadership will be critical in driving efforts to address educational equity, environmental justice, and economic development throughout Genesee County.
“David’s deep understanding of Flint’s unique challenges and his proven ability to build strong partnerships make him an ideal addition to our leadership team,” said Miller. “We are excited to see how his expertise will help accelerate our strategic goals.”
McGhee brings experience from his previous leadership roles, including Chief Executive Officer of The Steve Fund, a national organization focused on supporting the mental health of young people of color, and key roles at The Schultz Family Foundation and The Skillman Foundation, where he led major philanthropic initiatives aimed at supporting children, youth, and families.
McGhee holds a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Oakland University. He remains actively engaged in his community, serving on numerous boards and advisory councils across the state.
