Scott Atkinson has been reporting on Flint for more than fifteen years. He spent several years as a reporter for The Flint Journal and is the editor of "Happy Anyway: A Flint Anthology," a collection of essays about life in Flint. His journalism and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, Writer's Digest, and several other publications. He teaches writing at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he is also the adviser of The Michigan Times, the student newspaper. When he's not writing or editing, Atkinson can be found teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at his martial arts school, Wolverine Martial Arts.
