Flint City Councilman Dennis Pfeiffer won’t seek re-election
FLINT Mich. — Flint City Councilman Dennis Pfeiffer has announced he will not pursue another term.
Sharing the news in a Facebook post on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, Pfeiffer said he decided not to seek another term as 8th Ward Councilman after careful consideration. He said the decision will allow him to pursue new ways of serving the city while giving residents an opportunity to bring new voices to the council.
“I want to thank my family, my supporters, the many residents who have reached out with their concerns and ideas, and my colleagues on the council for the shared work we have done on behalf of Flint,” Pfeiffer said. “Most importantly, thank you to the people of the 8th Ward—you have inspired and motivated me every step of the way.”
The Flint City Clerk’s Office announced in a Dec. 30, 2025 press release that nominating petitions are now available for candidates seeking the offices of mayor and city council.
Elected in 2021, Pfeiffer will remain on the Flint City Council through the end of his term in November 2026.
