November 17, 2019- Flint non-profit organization, Well of Hope is scheduled to host its 11th Annual Blessed to be a Blessing Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, from 4-6pm. More than 50 volunteers will gather to serve families a complete turkey dinner including dressing, macaroni and cheese, yams and dessert. At the conclusion of dinner, guests will be provided with free pairs of socks which have been collected through a city-wide sock collection drive sponsored by Elga Credit Union. There will be raffles and giveaways taking place at the dinner and DJ C-Nice will provide live entertainment.
Chia Morgan, the founder and coordinator of the dinner states that she is overwhelmed with gratefulness that the City of Flint has continued to support a God-given dream that she experienced in 2009. Morgan states that the cooks are preparing for 600 guests and it is anticipated that each guests will leave with 6-8 pair of new socks as we prepare for a brutally cold winter. Morgan states the dinner is funded by donors of all levels including platinum sponsors: Community Foundation of Greater Flint, Mott Community College, Elga Credit Union, Robert & Sharonna Owens and HAP and gold sponsors: United Way of Genesee County, MTA, Pentecostal Temple Apostolic Church and UAW Local 598.
