Flint PD offers safe location for social media sales after robbery reports

FLINT, Mich. — The Flint Police Department is urging residents to be cautious when meeting in person to buy or sell items advertised on social media platforms.

According to an Oct. 20, 2025 press release from the department, several robberies have been reported during such exchanges.

Police encourage residents to follow common-sense safety practices when meeting with strangers, including:

  • Arranging exchanges in well-lit, public places.
  • Informing a friend or family member of meeting details.
  • Avoiding secluded or unfamiliar areas.

To help keep residents safe, the department is offering its police facility as a designated location for these transactions. Police say the site provides a secure, video-monitored environment for buyers and sellers to complete exchanges.
