Flint Zine Fest set for May 2 with workshop, artist spotlight event

FLINT, Mich. — A celebration of DIY creativity is coming to Flint next month, bringing together artists, writers and makers for a day of self-expression.
Flint Zine Fest is set to take place Saturday, May 2, 2026 from noon to 6 p.m. at Factory Two.
The event will feature artists and small press creators showcasing and selling zines. These self-published works can include comics, poetry, photography, essays and more.
Zines have long been tied to independent publishing and storytelling, offering creators a way to share personal perspectives outside traditional publishing outlets.
In the weeks leading up to the festival, additional events are planned to introduce the community to zine-making and highlight local artists. A Zine Artist Spotlight is set for Saturday, April 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Totem Books. The event will feature live readings, artist interviews and opportunities to explore zines created by Flint-area makers.
Additionally, a Zine Workshop will take place Saturday, April 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gloria Coles Flint Public Library. The workshop will discuss the history of zines and guide attendees through creating their own publications. Materials will be provided.
Together, the events aim to build interest ahead of the festival while making zine culture more accessible to the community.
