Southbound I-475 set to close at Flint River for beam setting
Davison, MI — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is closing southbound I-475 at the Flint River starting Saturday, October 26, 2024, for beam setting. This work is part of a $141 million investment to rebuild more than 3 miles of I-475 from the Flint River to Carpenter Road in Flint.
Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improves the condition of the state’s infrastructure.
Southbound traffic will be detoured via Stewart Road Exit 9, westbound Stewart Road, southbound James P Cole Boulevard, eastbound Hamilton Avenue, and eastbound Davison Road back to I-475. Northbound I-475 is currently closed to traffic during the ongoing rebuilding project.
The beam setting project is estimated to end on Nov. 1.
