Special education forum in Flint to bring together parents, legislators

FLINT, Mich. — The Flint Center for Educational Excellence’s Flint Parent Collaborative is set to host the Special Education & Learning Support: A Legislative Forum on Friday, Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library. 

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Steve Tunnicliff, Superintendent, Genesee Intermediate School District
  • Dr. Joyce Ellis-McNeal, President, Flint Community Schools Board of Education 
  • Senator John Cherry
  • Representative Jasper Martus  
  • William Stegall, Brownell STEM Academy Parent 

Organizers say the event will bring together parents, community stakeholders and legislators to discuss issues affecting children and families who rely on special education and learning support services in the Flint area.
