Flint City Council hopefuls participate in 3rd Ward candidate forum
FLINT, Mich. — Two candidates vying for Flint’s Third Ward City Council seat participated in a candidate forum at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle.
AC Dumas and Richard Jones attended the candidate forum on April 4, 2025. Third Ward candidates Beverly Biggs-Leavy and Lashawn Johnson did not attend.
The debate, moderated by Michael Clack, featured questions from both Clack and audience members. Topics included crime reduction, youth involvement in gun violence, community-police relations, economic development, vacant land use, water rates and government transparency.
The Third Ward seat has been vacant since the death of Councilman Quincy Murphy on Sept. 29, 2024. A primary election is set for May 6, with the general election scheduled for Aug. 5.
