FLINT, Mich. — Flint residents can once again expect a free hot meal and essential winter resources when the 17th Annual ‘Blessed to Be a Blessing’ Thanksgiving Dinner takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, from 4–6 p.m. at the Center for Hope, 812 Root St.
The event, founded in 2009 by social worker Chia Morgan, is hosted by Well of Hope in partnership with Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties. This year’s dinner is presented by Genesee Health System and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.
Morgan said the dinner was created in response to widespread economic hardship and has continued through several crises, including the Flint Water Crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We stand prepared to meet the need this year in response to the current state of the economy,” Morgan said in a press statement. “Our focus remains the same — meeting people where they are, providing what they need most, and reminding them that they are not forgotten.”
This year’s theme, “Warmth,” expands the event’s support beyond dinner service. Well of Hope is accepting applications from single mothers for assistance with heating bills and bedding for up to three family members.
Alongside the Thanksgiving meal, the event will offer free flu shots from Alana’s Foundation, yoga demonstrations from Life Support Counseling and Resources, Round One Gaming Lab activities for children, and special giveaways for families.
Major sponsors for 2025 include 1855 & Co., Valley Area Agency on Aging, Blue Cross Complete, HAP CareSource, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, in addition to dozens of volunteers who help staff the event each year.
Organizers say the annual dinner remains one of the region’s longest-running community Thanksgiving programs, providing not only meals but also wellness services and support for residents facing financial strain during the holiday season.
