FLINT, Mich. — Beats x BBQ is back to serve up food, music and community vibes at its sixth annual Memorial Day weekend event in downtown Flint.
While this marks the sixth edition of its flagship Memorial Day weekend event, “Beats x BBQ,” the Beats x Beers brand is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Corder says this year’s BBQ is the “Grand Finale.”
“Since it’s the Grand Finale of Beats x BBQ, it’s only right I make a return to do a DJ set myself,” Corder wrote in a May 12 Facebook post. “It’s been one hell of a journey and as we celebrate 10 years of the brand, I’m taking a moment to celebrate the full story behind it too.”
Corder has worked with artists such as Big K.R.I.T. and Curren$y, and contributed music to MTV, VH1, ESPN, Starz and TV One.
Corder launched the Beats x Beers Festival at SXSW in Austin, Texas. He later expanded to do events in different cities, including one in his hometown of Flint.
Corder said the upcoming grand finale doesn’t mark the end of Beats x BBQ events in Flint, but rather a new chapter.
“I’m just ready to take it to the next level,” he said. “Whether that will still end up being Memorial Day weekend or it will turn into something else, I’m not sure at this moment, but I just know it’s time for the event itself to move into the next phase.”
The event will be held in the parking lot of Tenacity Brewing, with the official after party at Soothing Tunes Room. This year’s sponsor is South Flint Plaza Cannabis.
The DJ lineup features Corder, DJ Hype, DJ Paradise, DJ E Nyce and DJ KJ. The evening will wind down with the “All R&B After Party” featuring DJ Hype and DJ Woo Beatz.
Food vendors include 810 Smoke LLC, Slice of Flint, Taste Buds Flint, Preppedbydot, Brazy Wings by DeLaunde Alston, Suggs SweetTreats and Eats Food Truck and Twauny Lo’s Tacos by Antwaun Alex Dav.
Corder also teased extra attractions like ParkandPlay MobileGaming providing a gaming truck and foam.
