FLINT, Mich. — A recount of the May special primary election for Flint’s Third Ward council seat has confirmed the original results from election night.
With no change in the vote totals, candidates Beverly “Biggs” Leavy and A.C. Dumas will advance to the special general election on Aug. 5, 2025.
The recount was conducted on May 22, 2025, by the Genesee County Clerk’s Office and Registrar of Deeds following a request from candidate LaShawn Johnson. The results, as certified by the Genesee County Board of Canvassers, are as follows:
- Beverly Biggs-Leavy: 165 votes
- A.C. Dumas: 165 votes
- LaShawn Johnson: 162 votes
- Rich Jones: 21 votes
The Third Ward seat became vacant after Councilmember Quincy Murphy died in September 2024.
