Flint, MI— The Flint City Clerk’s office have released an updated list of Flint residents chosen as applicants for the vacant 1st Ward Flint City Council seat.

The names, revealed on March 20, 2024, now include Liberty Bell, Cynthia Haynes, Torrell Dewayne King, and Nadine Roberts alongside Linda Anthony, Leon El-Alamin, Freddie Eugene McCoy, Rosemary Morrow, and D. Eric Walker. 

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, there will be a Special City Council meeting held at 5:30 p.m. to interview the candidates.

Per Flint City Charter, the council must appoint a qualified candidate to the position within 30 days of the vacancy. The council will be considering and appointing one of these individuals before midnight on March 25, 2024. This person will serve in the position until a special election is scheduled and held and a candidate is certified as elected.

The vacancy comes after the death of longtime Flint City Councilman Eric Mays on Feb. 24, 2024.
