FLINT, Mich. — Flint is gearing up for its annual 810 Day celebration with a variety of events, food offerings and activities designed to bring the community together and showcase local talent.

810 Day Concert at the Capitol Theatre

Legendary rap artists will take the stage at the FIM Capitol Theatre on Aug. 10 to honor the late MC Breed as part of Flint’s 810 Day celebration.

The “Legendary Concert Edition,” scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m., will feature performances by Flint’s own The Dayton Family, Top Authority and Jake the Flake, along with a special appearance by 8Ball & MJG.

Tickets start at $50, including fees. A VIP add-on is available and includes food and beverages from 6:30 to 9 p.m., meet-and-greet access with select artists and entry to the FIM Capitol Theatre Blackbox.

810 Day Block Party

The 810 Day Block Party, hosted by Spectacular Spudz, will take place Sunday, Aug. 10, from noon to 8:10 p.m. at 131 Second St. in downtown Flint.

The free event will feature activities for all ages, including carnival games, a mechanical bull, an inflatable obstacle course and performances by OohDats RudeboiR Kids and Teens. Guests can also enjoy free hot dogs, ice cream and cotton candy.

810 Day Fashion Show

The 810 Day Fashion Show will return Aug. 10, showcasing nine of Flint’s top designers and more than 30 models as part of the city’s annual celebration.

The event begins at 4 p.m. at Manhattan Park, 401 Martin Luther King Blvd. VIP tickets are $45.00 at Eventbite.com.

Organizers say the show will spotlight Flint’s creativity and style while bringing the community together for 810 Day festivities.

McDonald’s celebrates 810 Day

McDonald’s restaurants across Flint and Genesee County will celebrate 810 Day with a kickoff event at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at 3060 Miller Road in Flint, featuring Mayor Sheldon Neeley, community leaders and 810 Day T-shirt designer Jameirson Green.

Participating locations will offer a special 810 Day Meal on Sunday, Aug. 10, which includes McCrispy Strips, large fries, a large Vernors and a McFlurry, along with a free limited-edition Flint T-shirt designed by Green, while supplies last.
