City of Flint opens community centers as warming shelters

FLINT, Mich. — As temperatures drop across the region, the City of Flint has once again opened its community centers as warming stations to help residents stay safe during the cold weather.

The warming centers are open to all residents through the weekend during normal operating hours.

The Genesee County Health Department has issued a cold weather warning this week, urging residents to limit time outdoors, seek warm shelter when possible, and wear appropriate cold-weather clothing.

Anyone in need of warmth can visit either of the city-operated warming centers listed below. Bottled water and coffee will be provided at both locations:

• Mays Center | 1002 W. Home Ave, Flint – 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. (810-237-2444)
• McKinley Center | 249 Peer Ave., Flint – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (810-309-2513)
