FLINT, Mich. — In celebration of Women’s History Month, Communities First, Inc. (CFI) is inviting women from across Genesee County to attend The GatHERing—an event focused on fostering connection, personal growth and support among women.
Now in its second year, The GatHERing brings together women from diverse backgrounds to engage in meaningful conversations and create lasting relationships. Attendees can expect an inspiring panel discussion featuring local women leaders, guided breakout sessions, interactive activities and a catered lunch.

“Women’s History Month gives us time to reflect on how we have been living, where we are now, and where we can go,” said Shyreka Sturdivant, a member of The GatHERing committee. “Self-care is crucial, but so is showing up for each other. By cultivating connections and deepening our relationships, we can truly support one another in meaningful ways.”
The event will explore the historical and ongoing challenges women face, barriers to self-care and personal growth, and opportunities to build empowering relationships. Discussions will address topics such as race, religion and social status, all with the goal of fostering transformative connections that lead to change.
“Opportunities for women to come together and have these candid discussions are few and far between,” said Essence Wilson, CFI’s chief strategy officer. “I am proud that Communities First, Inc. can provide a space where women can connect, share and empower one another. It’s an experience that will not only impact individual lives but also strengthen the bonds within our entire community of women.”
Space is limited, and registration is required. Recommended ticket prices are $10, with a “pay what you can” option to ensure accessibility for all. To reserve a spot, visit tinyurl.com/GatHERingCFI2025.
The GatHERing will take place Saturday, March 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Communities First, Inc. office, 1110 W. Bristol Road in Flint.
