Meet the goats helping to restore Flint’s green spaces

FLINT, Mich. — Flint residents can learn how goats are helping restore local green spaces—one bite at a time—during an interactive event hosted by the Land Bank.

On Friday, July 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., the Genesee County Land Bank will host a free, family-friendly event at 1546 Stone Street in Flint. People of all ages can interact with the goats and learn how they’re supporting green space restoration across the city.

Highlights of the event include guided tours inside the goat enclosure, opportunities to pet and feed the animals, and live entertainment featuring juggling, drawing lessons, bubbles and more. Local Flint food trucks will be on-site, and free snacks will be available.

The goats are part of an ongoing effort by the Land Bank to utilize sustainable methods to control invasive species, such as buckthorn, which can choke out native plants and limit biodiversity.
