FLINT, Mich. — Flint Community Schools has named Natoya Coleman, Ph.D., as its new Chief Innovation Officer, a role focused on leading cross-departmental initiatives and advancing district-wide strategy.
Coleman brings 18 years of experience in education to the role. Her background includes roles as a middle and high school English teacher, ninth-grade coordinator, academic coach, high school assistant principal and elementary principal.
As CIO, she will provide leadership in developing and implementing innovative programs and services that support the educational mission of Flint Community Schools. Her work will include supervising principals and select district leaders to ensure alignment with district goals and supporting the integration of forward-thinking curriculum and instructional practices.
District officials emphasized her commitment to a culture of accountability, empowerment and collaboration, noting that her leadership will help advance the district’s mission to “Re-Energize the Pride, Renovate the Plans, Rebuild the Possibilities, and Repurpose for a Brighter Future.”
According to the district, Coleman is also committed to fostering strong relationships with staff, scholars, and families, and believes in the potential of every student to succeed.
