Flint, MI – The Genesee County Election Commission rejected the recent recall language filed against Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024.
It was determined that the eight petitions filed on Sept. 27, 2024, by Renita Robinson were ineligible because the petitioner is not a Flint resident, according to Genesee County Clerk/Register of Deeds Dominique Clemons.
Michigan Election Law requires that people who file recall language be registered to vote in the district of the official they are proposing to recall.
“I am grateful to the Election Commission for their thorough review and dismissal of these frivolous recalls,” said Neeley in an Oct. 17, 2024 email statement. “Each of our last five mayors had recall attempts against them, but never before have we seen so many Non-Flint residents attempt to divide our community.”
Robinson could not be immediately reached for comment.
