FLINT, Mich. — FIM Flint Repertory Theatre and the University of Michigan-Flint Program of Theatre & Dance are partnering for the first time to present “Lucky Stiff,” a comedy musical that will run March 20 through April 4 at the UM-Flint Theatre.
The production marks the first co-production between the two organizations, bringing together professional actors, university faculty and student performers.
“Renovations at FIM Bower Theatre forced us to reimagine the bounds of programming for Flint Rep this season,” said Nicole Samsel, producing artistic director for Flint Rep, in a press statement. “That encouraged us to pursue new partnerships and opportunities in our community that we might not have otherwise.”
“Lucky Stiff” is based on 1983 novel “The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo” by Michael Butterworth.

The story follows Harry Witherspoon, who will inherit $6 million if he can successfully take his recently murdered uncle on a trip to Monte Carlo and convince everyone the man is still alive. If he fails, the fortune goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn, or potentially to his uncle’s gun-toting ex.
Directed by Stephanie Dean, the production is filled with mistaken identities, twists and turns, diamonds and even a corpse in a wheelchair.
The cast includes Connor Allston as Harry Witherspoon, Mara Jill Herman as Annabel Glick, Aviva Pressman as Rita La Porta and Henry Ballesteros as Vincent “Vinnie” Di Ruzzio. Other professional cast members include Emily Begley, Emir Garcia, Kennedy Vernengo and Antonio Vettraino.
They will perform alongside UM-Flint student actors Noah Anthony, Austin Bishop, Ariel Crowder, Cassandra Justice, Claire Milton, Logan Reeves, Finn Stanley and Morgan Wright.
“Lucky Stiff” runs March 20 through April 4, 2026. Tickets start at $26 and are available at tickets.thefim.org or by calling the FIM Ticket Center at 810-237-7333.
