FLINT, Mich. — Kids in Genesee County can end summer on a high note with music, art and hands-on activities at Windiate Park.

On Wednesday, Aug. 13, the Flint Institute of Music and Flint Institute of Arts will host free activities from 5 to 7 p.m. at the park, located at 4100 Pengelly St. in Flint. The event will feature a musical instrument playground for children and wearable art projects.

The activities are part of Genesee County Parks’ Keep Genesee County Beautiful Cultural Park-to-Park initiative, which brings cultural programming to parks in each of Flint’s nine wards.

The program partners with local arts and culture organizations, including the Sloan Museum of Discovery, FIA and FIM, to offer interactive projects, cultural information, park resources and networking opportunities.

Throughout the summer, the initiative has included art-making activities, science demonstrations and themed hands-on experiences for families.
