GENESEE COUNTY, Mich โ Genesee Health System has awarded $220,000 in grants to 22 local food pantries to support hunger relief efforts across Genesee County.
The initiative, done in partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan (FBEM), provides each pantry with $10,000 to help expand there services.
According to the FBEM, the selected pantries were prioritized based on their need to serve more people, their existing distribution capabilities and their demonstrated need to expand hunger relief work.
โWe know that many of Genesee Countyโs most vulnerable residents, some who are working through mental health and/or substance use disorders, sometimes show up at food pantries seeking help, especially during a time when access to food becomes limited,โ said Danis Russell, CEO of Genesee Health System.
