FLINT, Mich. — The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is partnering with the Genesee County Career and College Access Network (GCCCAN) to host a free workshop to help students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student (FAFSA).
The workshop is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the GISD Erwin Davis Education Center, Entrance No. 3, located at 2413 Maple Road in Flint. Participants are required to register online at https://bit.ly/FAFSAJanuary2026.
District officials say thousands of dollars in financial aid go unclaimed each year by students in Genesee County.
About 70% of Michigan college students are eligible for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, which can provide up to $5,500 annually, making FAFSA completion a critical first step, according to GCCCAN Coordinator, Corrine Walworth.
“The FAFSA connects students to grants, work study and scholarships, including the Michigan Achievement Scholarship and the Community College Guarantee,โ Walworth stated in a Jan. 5 press release.
