FLINT, Mich. — As temperatures drop, warming centers in Flint will be open from December 2025 through March 2026 to provide overnight shelter, meals and daytime services for residents in need.

Men seeking overnight shelter can go to Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee Counties’ Center for Hope, 812 Root St. in Flint. Check-in begins at 6 p.m. For more information, call 810-265-7025.

Women and children can go to the Shelter of Flint, 924 Cedar St. in Flint, with check-in beginning at 5 p.m. For more information, call 810-239-5433.

Couples with children will be accommodated at the Shelter of Flint when possible, while men with children will be placed at Catholic Charities, depending on availability and safety considerations. Anyone seeking shelter is encouraged to call ahead for more information.

For those needing a warm place during the day, the Center for Hope is open to everyone from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch is served daily at 11:30 a.m., and showers and laundry services are available. Schedules for these services are posted in the lobby.

The following organizations are also offering free meals throughout the week:

  • Carriage Town Ministries, 605 Garland St. in Flint, serves dinner at 5:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to arrive early. Transportation is available to the Shelter of Flint.
  • North End Soup Kitchen, 735 E. Stewart Ave. in Flint, serves meals Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4 to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 2 p.m.
