Flint, MI — There won’t be a recall election for Flint City Council President Ladel Lewis after a recall petition only received 629 of the needed 751 valid signatures.
According to a press release, Genesee County Clerk Domonique Clemons’ office received the signatures against Lewis on Jan. 31. There were 1199 signatures on 122 sheets, which were sent to the clerk’s office for a registration check and verification.
Of all the signatures submitted, the City of Flint discovered that only 574 of the signatures were valid.
After a final review by the clerk’s office, in accordance with Michigan recall procedure through the Michigan Bureau of Elections, only 629 signatures were determined to be valid.
There needed to be 751 valid signatures in order for the recall to be placed on the ballot.
