Flint, MI— The Flint City Clerk’s office is accepting nominating petitions for the 1st Ward Flint City Council member election.

The petitions are available Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for Friday, March 29, 2024, when the clerk’s office will be closed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in observance of the Easter holiday.

The deadline for filing petitions with the clerk’s office is 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Petitions submitted by candidates must be signed by at least 75 registered voters who are residents of the 1st Ward. 

The 1st Ward City Council member primary election will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024. The top two contenders will be on the ballot for a general election on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.

Per the Flint City Charter, candidates must be registered electors of the city for one year before the filing deadline and residents of the ward for which they serve. They must continue that residency until the end of their term.
