Mayor Neeley to host Flint City Hall tree lighting on Dec. 13

FLINT, MI —Mayor Sheldon Neeley will host the traditional tree lighting ceremony at Flint City Hall from 5-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2019. This year’s tree lighting at City Hall is being held in conjunction with Second Friday ArtWalk.

It is one of two tree lighting celebrations being hosted by Mayor Neeley.

The City Hall Tree Lighting Celebration will feature the sounds of the Flint City Wide Choir, a community sing-along, hot chocolate and snacks as well as the traditional lighting of the City Hall holiday trees. One tree will feature blue lights in honor of Flint police, another red lights in honor of Flint firefighters and a third with white lights symbolizing unity and peace.

“We are excited to collaborate with Second Friday ArtWalk for this year’s tree lighting celebration at City Hall. Both are great community events independently — and together, we will offer a full night of fun and festivities,” Mayor Neeley said.

ArtWalk is a monthly event coordinated by the Greater Flint Arts Council and features live music and art in a variety of locations throughout downtown Flint. Maps of this month’s walking tour will be available at the tree lighting.

“Greater Flint Arts Council and the members of ArtWalk are very pleased for the opportunity to partner with Mayor Neeley and the City of Flint. We look forward to an exciting evening filled with holiday cheer and the arts;” said Greg Fiedler, president and CEO of the Greater Flint Arts Council.

Mayor Neeley and his wife Cynthia also are hosting a Tree Lighting Celebration at the Flint Development Center on Saturday, Dec. 14. This community tree lighting is a tradition for the Neeley family. Set for 3-5:30 p.m., it will include a variety of community resources, giveaways, and family activities including pictures with Santa Claus.
