Resource fair in Flint set to support Job Corps students
FLINT, Mich. — In response to the unexpected closure of the Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center, local organizations are stepping in to support displaced students through a community-led Resource Fair on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library.
Hosted by the Flint & Genesee County Opportunity Youth Coalition, the event is exclusively for students who were enrolled at the Flint/Genesee Job Corps.
Students attending the event will receive personalized support to identify their most pressing needs and be directed to the appropriate partner organizations. They should bring any Job Corps identification they may have to assist with intake and service matching.
“This is more than a resource fair. This is a bridge back to stability and opportunity,” said Tiffany Rouser, OYC Chair and Associate Director of GEARup2Lead. “We’re coming together to ensure that no student is left without a path forward—whether it’s continuing their education, entering the workforce, or accessing the critical services they need to thrive.”
Services include:
- High school re-enrollment
- Post-secondary education opportunities
- Workforce training
- Job placement
- Essential resources such as food, clothing, housing and healthcare access
More than 25 local organizations will be on-site offering actionable support to help these young people stay connected to opportunity during this challenging time.
